Dudley Street
18 Affordable apartments, Eccles.
The development comprised 18 apartments in a mix of one and two-bedroom configurations. C4 Projects were appointed as Architectural lead, up to and including Stage 5 of the RIBA Plan of Work 2020.
The proposed development will provide 18 apartments for affordable rent, in line with Salford Council’s strategic priority to deliver more social and affordable rented homes in the borough. Dedicated car parking allocation and pedestrian footpaths are proposed to be linked to the public highway to afford appropriate and inclusive access.
The ratio of one to two bed apartments has been developed in conjunction with the For Viva housing management directorate based on current lettings patterns in the local area, providing 15 one bed and 3 two bed apartments. The proposed strategy is aimed at attracting a target demographic for the apartments for single occupants, couples and small families.
A mansard style roof allows for the building to keep a lower overall height in order not to overbear on adjacent properties. The main material for the development is facing brickwork, in keeping with the surrounding residential buildings. This is broken up with recessed brickwork panels that provide architectural interest and texture to the façade without needing to excessively change the materials used.
